The Epiphany School of Global Studies is a proud sponsor of Empty Bowls, an uplifting event that unites businesses, religious and civic groups, professional and amateur potters, and restaurants as collective creative energies make a difference in the lives of others. Money raised at the event goes to local stop-hunger charities and arts programming in Craven County. In addition to sponsoring, many Epiphany students and teachers donated their time today serving soup, welcoming guests, and unloading bowls. Helping others in our community is the perfect way to wrap up our enrichment week.

The Lower School Talent Show last night was a blast! We were entertained by magicians, instrumentalists, funny emcees, vocalists, and a gymnast. Epiphany parent Marisa McDonald captured these beautiful images for us. Check out her site at https://marisamcdonaldphotography.com if you want to see more of her work.

Five students from The Epiphany school of Global Studies in New Bern were selected for and participated in the High School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall in New York City on Saturday, Feb. 4. The following students performed: Amelia Bobbitt, Zoe Brougher, Emily Haber, Bennett Sanborn, and Caroline Strickland. Participation in the Honors Ensembles is limited to the highest-rated young performers from across the world. The students attending the Honors Performance Series were accepted after a review by the Honors Selection Board. Acceptance to the elite group is a direct result of the talent, dedication, and achievements demonstrated in their application and audition recording. The Epiphany students joined performers from New York City for a special performance at the world-famous Carnegie Hall, a venue that marks the pinnacle of musical achievement. The finalists learned from world-renowned conductors, worked with other performers, and got a taste of big city life. “Being selected to the Honors Performance Series is something each Finalist should be extremely proud of accomplishing,” said Marion Gomez, Music Director for the Honors Performance Series. “We processed nearly 10,000 nominations this year and have selected the most talented student performers from around the world. Working with these conductors and performing at these renowned music halls is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that these musicians will never forget.” The Honors Performance Series was created to showcase accomplished individual student performers on an international level by allowing them to study under master conductors and perform in world renowned venues. The Honors Performance Series is proudly presented by WorldStrides, the nation’s leading educational travel organization. Learn more by visiting www.honorsperformance.org and www.worldstrides.com.

The students, faculty, and administration of Epiphany would like to thank our Head of School, Dr. Dwight Carlblom, for his generous donation, which he presented during the Feast of Epiphany service on Friday. The money he donated will be used to complete lighting renovations in the Performing Arts Center, which will benefit all who use the stage and sit in the audience. We are very excited to brighten up our stage and create additional lighting options for the many presentations and productions that take place onstage throughout the year. Thank you, Dr. Carlblom!

Every year, Worldstrides hosts an event called the Honors Performance Series for middle school, high school, and young adult musicians. Candidates are nominated by music professionals to apply for the program. These candidates then prepare an audition and complete a written application. This is the first year that Epiphany students have applied for the program, and we are so excited to share that each of the applicants were accepted! These students - (l to r) Emily, Amelia, Maddie, Bennett, Zoe, and Caroline - are now eligible to attend the Honors Performance Series in Carnegie Hall in New York City in February. During this week-long trip, students will interact with industry professionals, guest speakers and conductors, and other students from all around the world. In addition to performing at the world-famous Carnegie Hall, students will also spend time exploring other famous landmarks in NYC. High school students are even eligible to receive college credits for their participation in the event. If you see these students around, make sure to congratulate them on their achievement!
